Residual torsion-free nilpotence, biorderability and pretzel knots

چکیده
The residual torsion-free nilpotence of the commutator subgroup a knot group has played key role in studying bi-orderability groups. A technique developed by Mayland provides sufficient condition for to be residually-torsion-free nilpotent using work Baumslag. In this paper, we apply Mayland's several genus one pretzel knots and family with arbitrarily high genus. As result, obtain large number new examples bi-orderable These are first groups which not fibered or alternating.

Slopes for pretzel knots
Using the Hatcher–Oertel algorithm for finding boundary slopes of Montesinos knots, we prove the Slope Conjecture and the Strong Slope Conjecture for a family of 3-tangle pretzel knots. More precisely, we prove that the maximal degrees of the colored Jones polynomial of such a knot determine a boundary slope as predicted by the Slope Conjecture, and that the linear terms in the degrees correspo...
متن کاملCyclic and Finite Surgeries on Pretzel Knots
We classify Dehn surgeries on (p, q, r) pretzel knots resulting in a manifold M(α) having cyclic fundamental group and analyze those leading to a finite fundamental group. The proof uses the theory of cyclic and finite surgeries developed by Culler, Shalen, Boyer, and Zhang. In particular, CullerShalen seminorms play a central role.
متن کاملRational Witt Classes of Pretzel Knots
In his two pioneering articles [5, 6] Jerry Levine introduced and completely determined the algebraic concordance groups of odd dimensional knots. He did so by defining a host of invariants of algebraic concordance which he showed were a complete set of invariants. While being very powerful, these invariants are in practice often hard to determine, especially for knots with Alexander polynomial...
متن کاملFinite surgeries on three-tangle pretzel knots
We classify Dehn surgeries on (p, q, r) pretzel knots that result in a manifold of finite fundamental group. The only hyperbolic pretzel knots that admit non-trivial finite surgeries are (−2, 3, 7) and (−2, 3, 9). Agol and Lackenby’s 6-theorem reduces the argument to knots with small indices p, q, r. We treat these using the Culler-Shalen norm of the SL(2, C)-character variety. In particular, w...
متن کاملFundamentally Different m-Colorings of Pretzel Knots
We show that the number of fundamentally different m-colorings of a knot K depends only on the m-nullity of K, and develop a formula for the number of such colorings. We also determine the m-colorability and m-nullity of any (p, q, r) pretzel knot, and therefore determine the number of fundamentally different m-colorings for any (p, q, r)
